Total Ozone in 1958," P.A. Newman (NASA-Goddard, Code 916,

Observations of low ozone levels taken at the Antarctic
station Dumont d'Urville in 1958 have been used to argue that low
values were possible well before significant CFC emissions began.
This paper analyzes that finding and the technique used, and
concludes that there is no credible evidence that an ozone hole
existed in 1958.
