Item #d88dec65
Proceedings of the 81st APCA Annual Meeting, 8 vols., Oct. 1988.

depletion.
Item #d88dec66
Some Highlights of a Resources for the Future Workshop
--Controlling and Adapting to Greenhouse Warming, Washington, D.C.
June 14-15, 1988, N.J. Rosenburg, 19 pp., June 1988. Available from Resour. for
the Future, 1616 P St. NW, Washington DC 20036 (202-328-5071).
The workshop provided a forum for natural and social scientists to review
and discuss with others opportunities for controlling the rate of greenhouse gas
accumulation and for adjusting to whatever degree of warming is unavoidable.
This summary was prepared for use at the Toronto Conference on the Changing
Atmosphere ten days later; a full proceedings will follow in early 1989. Lists
15 specific findings of the workshop.
Item #d88dec67
U.S. Agriculture in a Global Setting--An Agenda for the Future,
M.A. Tutwiler, ed., 235 pp., 1988. Resour. for the Future (address immed.
above); $20.
Contains a chapter by N.J. Rosenburg "Global Climate Change Holds
Problems and Uncertainties for Agriculture," pp. 203-220, that concludes it
is too early to encourage specific American agricultural policies in preparation
for change, but systematic and rigorous study of vulnerability should begin.
Discusses policy implications for aquifers, plant breeding, and natural
resources.
Item #d88dec68
The Greenhouse Effect, Climatic Change and
Ecosystems, B. Bolin, B.R. Döös et al., eds., 541 pp., 1986. Wiley
& Sons*; $110. Extensive review by N.J. Rosenburg in Bull. Amer. Meteor.
Soc., 69(2), 194-196, Feb. 1988.
Also called SCOPE 29 (Sci. Comm. on Probs. of the Environ., Internat.
Council of Sci. Unions), this project was supported by the UNEP and WMO. The
author finds that the book warrants careful study by scientists; policy makers
will benefit from the summary and preface. Also briefly reviewed in Ambio,
16(6), 1987.
Item #d88dec69
Future Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide Scenarios and Limitation Strategies,
J.A. Edmonds et al., 620 pp., 1986. Noyes Publications*. Reviewed by W.W.
Kellogg in Bull. Amer. Meteor. Soc., 68(7), 821-822, July 1987.
A collection of previously published reports (some revised) that the
reviewer finds to be a valuable but not critical collection on carbon dioxide,
climate change and its societal impacts, and options for delaying change.
