EPA GLOBAL WARMING REPORT DELAYED
Item #d89feb1
Delays in the submission of
federal agency reviews and comments of the Science Advisory Board have postponed
the final draft of the Environmental Protection Agency's report, The
Potential Effects of Global Climate Change on the United States. (See Global
Climate Change Digest, NEWS, Nov. 1988 and Jan. 1989.) The comments must be
incorporated into the document and that draft sent out for final review before
submission to Congress. Supplies of the 750-page draft were quickly exhausted
when released last fall, but it is now available through the U.S. Government
Printing Office. The draft of a companion report examining policy options for
stabilizing levels of greenhouse gases is not yet complete. For progress on both
reports contact Michael Greene at EPA, PM-221, Washington DC 20460
(202-382-6923); a seven-page fact sheet and a 51-page draft executive summary
are also available. Extensive excerpts of the draft executive summary of the
effects report were published in JAPCA, 1554-1572, Dec. 1988. The entire
draft effects report can be ordered for $32 (stock# 055-00-00280-1) from
Superintendent of Docs., Govt. Printing Off., Washington DC 20401
(202-783-3238).
