Scientific and policy experts, primarily from Europe, the United States, Canada and the Soviet Union, assembled by invitation January 16-18, 1989, in Turin, Italy, to review and debate the greenhouse effect, ozone depletion and acid rain, the relation between these problems and their implications for humans. A manifesto proposing new policies and a code of conduct for decision makers as well as for the man in the street was developed, to be issued this spring. The meeting was organized by the Sanpaolo Foundation for Culture, Science and Art, under the patronage of the President of Italy.
