Drought Network News. Published three times yearly by the
International Drought Information Center in cooperation with the WMO World
Climate Program. Free subscriptions are available from Jan Schinstock, Ctr.
Agric. Meteor. & Clim., Univ. Nebraska, Lincoln NE 68583. The inaugural
January 1989 issue features the 1988 drought--its impact on agriculture in North
America, and governmental response.
IGBP News Letter. To be issued three times yearly by the
International Geosphere-Biosphere Program Secretariat (Royal Swedish Acad. Sci.,
Box 50005, S-10405 Stockholm, Swed.) The debut issue (May 1989) reports on the
first meeting of the Scientific Advisory Council for the IGBP in October 1988,
and includes a calendar and other features. One article explains the
relationship between IGBP, which is developing broad, long-term research, and
the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, intended to provide a basis for
policy decisions over the next several years. (See also REPORTS/IGBP, this
Global Climate Change Digest issue--July 1989.)
Network Newsletter. Published (free of charge) four times yearly
by the Environmental and Societal Impacts Group, National Center for Atmospheric
Research (Michael Glantz or Maria Krenz, Eds., POB 3000, Boulder CO 80307;
303-497-1618), in cooperation with the UNEP World Climate Impacts Program. Aimed
at those interested and involved in climate-related impact assessment.
Contributions of material (news items, announcements of publications and grants,
meeting summaries, calendar listings) are welcome.
Environmental Research Newsletter. Published (free of charge)
several times a year by the Commission of the European Communities (Attn: Myriam
Borlè-Talpaert, Ed., Joint Res. Ctr., 21020 Ispra (VA), Italy; tel: +39
332 789 724). Provides contact among researchers in universities, industry and
research agencies, and disseminates news and regulatory actions relevant to the
Environmental Research Programs coordinated by the member states of the European
Guide to Publishers
