Drought Network News. Published three times yearly by the International Drought Information Center in cooperation with the WMO World Climate Program. Free subscriptions are available from Jan Schinstock, Ctr. Agric. Meteor. & Clim., Univ. Nebraska, Lincoln NE 68583. The inaugural January 1989 issue features the 1988 drought--its impact on agriculture in North America, and governmental response.

IGBP News Letter. To be issued three times yearly by the International Geosphere-Biosphere Program Secretariat (Royal Swedish Acad. Sci., Box 50005, S-10405 Stockholm, Swed.) The debut issue (May 1989) reports on the first meeting of the Scientific Advisory Council for the IGBP in October 1988, and includes a calendar and other features. One article explains the relationship between IGBP, which is developing broad, long-term research, and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, intended to provide a basis for policy decisions over the next several years.
