FRAMEWORK CONVENTION WORKSHOP

An international conference to be hosted by the United States on a flexible framework convention for protection of the global atmosphere was recently suggested by President George Bush. (See Global Climate Change Digest, NEWS, July 1989.) Instead, that topic will be one of several covered at this month's Geneva meeting of the Response Strategies Working Group of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Other topics include technology transfer and development, financial measures, market approaches, and public education and information. The full IPCC (consisting of the science, impacts and policy working groups) will, however, meet in the United States next February.

The IPCC Gazette (12 pp.), an occasional publication of the WMO/UNEP IPCC, was first issued in June 1989 and outlines working group activities and related United Nations and World Meteorological Organization actions.
