HUMAN DIMENSIONS PROGRAM
Item #d89sep6
The United Nations University (UNU), in
cooperation with the International Federation of Institutes of Advanced Study
(IFIAS) and the International Social Science Council (ISSC), has scheduled
several more workshops under the Human Dimensions of Global Change Program.
Program goals are to increase scientific understanding, predict effects of
social change on the environment, analyze policy options and identify pragmatic
strategies. This will involve a global network of experts who can translate
research findings into practical applications and develop appropriate
information systems. The planned workshops will be held in various countries and
cover topics such as international law, industry, and critical geographical
zones. Attendance is open, although only selected individuals will receive
financial support. For information on the program contact the North American
Office of UNU, DC2-1462, 2 U.N. Plaza, New York NY 10017 (212-963-6387). For
information on the workshops contact Ian Burton at IFIAS, 39 Spadina Road,
Toronto, Ont. M5R 2S9, Can. (416-926-7570).
