NATIONAL GOVERNORS TASK FORCE

Item #d90may65

A 12-member task force chaired by Gov. James R. Thompson Jr. of Illinois was established by the National Governor's Association last year to develop goals for addressing global climate change. At an association meeting in late February 1990, Bush administration officials declared that several of the panel's draft proposals were premature, particularly the stabilization of carbon dioxide emissions at 1990 levels by the year 2000. The final draft of the proposals will be released at the association's July meeting. See Chem. Eng. News, p. 5, Mar. 5, 1990, or contact NGA's Washington office (202-624-5300).
