OF GENERAL INTEREST
Item #d91feb45
Emerging Energy Technologies: Impacts and Policy Implications, M.
Grubb, 130 pp., expected May 1991, £25 (Wildwood). Examines potentially
important technologies, the mechanisms by which they may develop and enter the
market, and their potential and probable roles.
Item #d91feb46
IMAGE: An Integrated Model to Assess the Greenhouse Effect, J.
Rotmans, 289 pp., Aug. 1990, $111/£62/Dfl.179 (Kluwer).
The result of a research project, "Reference Function for Global Air
Pollution/CO2," initiated by RIVM (Netherlands Nat. Inst. Publ. Health &
Environ. Affairs), it describes a multidisciplinary computer simulation model of
the greenhouse effect. Chapter topics include a general description of IMAGE;
submodels or modules on the carbon cycle, CH4, N2O, CFCs, climate, and sea level
rise; discussions of socio-economic impacts and policy; sensitivity analysis.
