CHEMRAWN RECOMMENDATIONS
Item #d92apr109
At the seventh CHEMRAWN (Chemical Research
Applied to World Needs) conference (Baltimore, Maryland, December 1991), 400
scientists and policy experts from 43 countries translated the latest findings
on global atmospheric change into a series of proposals aimed at political and
scientific leaders and the negotiators of the Earth Summit. Among the findings:
rising greenhouse gas levels require international agreement on controlling
emissions; the private sector should have a "partnership role" with
government and academia in establishing global change research priorities. See "CHEMRAWN
Reaches for the Sky," A. Newman, Environ. Sci. Technol.,
pp. 428-429, Mar. 1992.
