IEA Greenhouse Gas R&D Programme. Established in 1991 under the auspices of the International Energy Agency, operated by British Coal at the Coal Research Establishment, and currently supported by six countries and the Commission of the European Communities. The program provides information on many topics related to greenhouse gases resulting from fossil fuel combustion: emissions, atmospheric chemistry and climatic change, abatement and control of greenhouse gases, and energy policy and economic models. It produces technical evaluation reports on greenhouse gas recovery and disposal technologies, pertinent economic evaluation reports, and proposals for research and development on the control of greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels. A newsletter available at no charge, Greenhouse Issues, deals with the program and developments in various countries. For information contact A.R. The program also publishes Greenhouse Gases Bulletin, a bimonthly current awareness journal. Full abstracts of publications of all types (journal articles, reports, books and proceedings) are commingled without regard to type under the broad program categories listed above (ozone depletion and effects of climate change are generally not included). A calendar of meetings is included. Annual subscriptions are £60 to IEA member countries, £180 to others; free to organizations nominated by member country representatives. Global Climate Change Information Programme. A project of the Department of Environment and Geography Studies, Manchester Polytechnic, which also has conducted the Acid Rain Information Programme since 1984. The program disseminates information without advocacy to promote understanding of the issue. Information sharing agreements are being established with a variety of national and international organizations.
