The following workshop reports are from the series organized by the
Woods Hole Research Center and held in developing nations, in association with
local and other institutions. Available from the Center, POB 296, Woods Hole MA

International Conference on Global Warming and Sustainable Development:
An Agenda for the 90s (Bangkok, Thailand; June 1991), 24 pp., 1991.
Participants from 20 countries developed an overall recommendation that relates
to attaining a sustainable future by both developing and industrialized nations.
Seventeen specific recommendations address social, economic and political
factors of the Asia-Pacific region that will move it towards a pattern of
development designed for the long-term amelioration of problems relating to
global warming.
ASEAN Workshop on Scientific Policy and Legal Aspects of Global Climate
Change (Bangkok, Thailand; Sep. 1990), 6 pp., 1990. Among its numerous
recommendations, the workshop stated that greater consideration should be given
by ASEAN countries to the potential for significant growth-enhancing investments
in energy efficiency consistent with efforts to reduce greenhouse gases.
Climate Change and Energy Policy in Developing Countries (Montebello,
Québec, Canada; July-Aug. 1990), 13 pp., 1990. Convened by the Human
Dimensions of Global Change Programme to draw more attention to equity and to
developing countries' concerns about climate change.
Regional Conference on Global Warming and Sustainable Development
(Sao Paulo, Brazil; June 1990), 71 pp., 1990. Approximately 200 participants
were drawn primarily from Central and South America.
The Nairobi Declaration on Climatic Change. International Conference on
Global Warming and Climatic Change: African Perspectives (Nairobi, Kenya;
May 1990), 33 pp., 1990. Examined the possible impacts of global climatic change
on the ecosystems, economies and infrastructure of African countries.
International Conference on Global Warming and Climatic Change:
Perspectives from Developing Countries (New Delhi, India; Feb. 1989), 39
pp., 1989. Focused on the scientific evidence for, the impacts of, and policy
responses to global climate change.
