The U.S. Department of State has solicited proposals from developing countries and countries with economies in transition for support under the Country Studies Initiative. Available are $25 million and associated technical support to assist countries to inventory their net emissions of greenhouse gases, assess their vulnerability to climate change, and evaluate response options. Several countries in a geographic region may apply jointly. Proposals received by March 15, 1993, were considered in the first round; a second round will be judged later this year.
