ISLSCP FIELD EXPERIMENT
Item #d93mar20
J.
Geophys. Res., 97(D17), Nov. 30, 1992, contains 62
papers describing results from the First International Satellite
Land Surface Climatology Project (ISLSCP) Field Experiment
(FIFE), conducted from 1987 through 1989 in the state of Kansas.
The objectives of FIFE, an international, interdisciplinary
project, are to understand the role of biology in controlling the
interactions between the atmosphere and the vegetated land
surface, and to investigate the use of satellite observations to
infer climatologically significant land surface parameters.
Papers are grouped under the headings Atmospheric Boundary Layer,
Surface Flux (including CO2), Surface Radiances and
Biology, Soil Moisture, and Integrative Science. Overview and
summary papers by P.J. Sellars et al. (NASA-Goddard, Greenbelt MD
20771) open and conclude, respectively, the collection. (Pub. by
AGU (American Geophysical Union), 2000 Florida Ave. NW,
Washington DC 20009.)
