Global Climate Change Digest A Guide to Information on Greenhouse Gases and Ozone Depletion Published July 1988 through June 1999
FROM VOLUME 7, NUMBER 6, JUNE 1994
PROFESSIONAL PUBLICATIONS... OF GENERAL INTEREST: COMMENTARY
Item #d94jun6
"Simulating
Past and Forecasting Future Climates," R.A. Bryson (Ctr.
Clim. Res., Univ. Wisconsin, 1225 W. Dayton St., Madison WI
53706), Environ. Conserv., 20(4), 339-346, Winter
1993-1994.
Past climate is the key to future climate and must be
understood before we can predict climatic change. Reviews methods
of simulating past climate, concluding that present knowledge of
the climatic effect of increasing atmospheric CO2 is a totally
inadequate basis for initiating global attempts to modify
climate.
Item #d94jun7
"Climate
Con," R. Bate, Chem. & Industry, p. 280, Apr. 4,
1994.
Enumerates several ways in which the uncertainty surrounding
enhanced greenhouse warming makes political action premature.
Item #d94jun8
"True
Story of CFCs," J. Shanklin (Brit. Antarctic Survey,
Cambridge, U.K.), ibid., 282, Apr. 18, 1994.
A letter rebutting a previous commentary by F.S. Singer
