Laboratory data used with a photochemical model showed that
the lifetime of CF3I in the sunlit atmosphere is less than a day.
Any iodine that reaches the stratosphere will be effective for
ozone destruction, but the short lifetime limits transport to the
stratosphere. Neither the ozone depletion potential nor the
global warming potential represents a significant obstacle to
CF3I use as a halon replacement.

The exponential column increase rate was (6.7 ± 0.5)% per yr.
Derived a south-north interhemispheric ratio of (0.86 ± 0.08),
by including column measurements over Antarctica. Uncertainty
prohibits the use of CHF2Cl column measurements to infer either
its lifetime or the global OH field.
