TROPOSPHERIC CHEMISTRY

Item #d95jan112

"Increase in Atmospheric CHF2Cl (HCFC-22) over Southern California from 1985 to 1990," F.W. Irion (Dept. Chem. Eng., Calif. Inst. Technol., Pasadena CA 91125), M. Brown et al., ibid., 21(16), 1723-1726, Aug. 1, 1994.

Model calculations investigated the feasibility of using CHF2Cl column measurements to determine a lifetime for CHF2Cl or to estimate the global OH field. The current uncertainty in historical CHF2Cl emissions is too large for it to be used to infer either one.

Specialized Papers

Item #d95jan113

"Production of Isoprene by Marine Phytoplankton Cultures," R.M. Moore (Dept. Oceanog., Dalhousie Univ., Halifax NS B3H 4J1, Can.), D.E. Oram, S.A. Penkett, Geophys. Res. Lett., 21(23), 2507-2510, Nov. 15, 1994. It is not possible to extrapolate release rates from laboratory studies to natural ocean conditions.

Item #d95jan114

"Intercomparison of Tropospheric OH and Ancillary Trace Gas Measurements at Fritz Peak Observatory, Colorado," F.L. Eisele (NCAR, POB 3000, Boulder CO 80307)), G.H. Mount et al., J. Geophys. Res., 99(D9), 18,605-18,626, Sep. 20, 1994.
