Global Prospects
for Renewable Energy, M. Jefferson, Sep. 1994. Contact World Energy Council
(WEC), 34 St. James's St., London SW1A 1HD, UK (tel: 44 171 930 3966; fax: 44

A conference paper from the 1994 World Energy Congress. Concludes
that the global prospects for renewable energy are bright, but over the next few
decades, the pace and scale of development are likely to be more modest than
many enthusiasts proclaim. The potential for renewables is large: as much as 50%
of global primary energy supplies could be derived from new renewable sources by
the year 2100.

Energy Supply:
Energy Potential of Municipal Solid Waste Is Limited (GAO/RCED-94-200), 28
pp., Sep. 1994. Single copies free from U.S. General Accounting Office, POB
6015, Gaithersburg MD 20877 (202 275 6241).
The potential is limited not only by the volume and energy content of the
waste, but also by factors affecting the use of waste, including public
opposition and financing.
