IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE
Item #d97jul64
"Potential Ecological and Economic Impacts of Climate change,"
T. Wilson, L. Pitelka, EPRI Journal, pp. 36-40, Mar.-Apr. 1997.
(Electric Power Res. Inst., POB 10412, Palo Alto CA 94303.)
Discusses the Electric Power Research Institute's global climate change
research program, which is building on its own and other programs to assess
possible impacts on both nonmarket systems (ecosystem function, biodiversity,
human health) and market-based systems (agriculture, forestry, coastal
resources, fishing, recreation). Work to date indicates that ecological impacts
are highly uncertain, but that aggregate damages to the U.S. economy are likely
to be substantially lower than previously estimated.
