In the northern hemisphere, they correspond roughly with the deserts of northern Mexico, the Sahara in northern Africa, the Arabian Desert and the great Indian Desert, in the southern hemisphere, with the Atacama Desert of Chile, Peru and Bolivia, the Kalahari Desert of southern Africa, and the deserts of Australia.
