The Council on
Environmental Quality coordinates federal environmental efforts and works
closely with agencies and other White House offices in the development of
environmental policies and initiatives. The Council's Chair, who is
appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate,
serves as the principal environmental policy adviser to the President.

This
Cabinet-level Council is the principal means for the President to
coordinate science, space, and technology to coordinate the diverse parts
of the Federal research and development enterprise. The President chairs
the NSTC.

Acting under
the directive of the leadership of the 104th Congress to make Federal
legislative information freely available to the Internet public, a Library
of Congress team brought the THOMAS World Wide Web system online in
January 1995, at the inception of the 104th Congress. Thomas databases
offer the House Floor This Week, Quick Search of Text of Bills,
Legislation (Bills, Public Laws, Votes), the Congressional Record,
Committee Information (Reports, House and Senate Committee home pages,
schedules, hearings) and more.
