Change Research Act of 1990, the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP), an integrated effort of various Agencies and Organizations of the Federal Government, has been working to better understand and to deal with natural and human-induced changes in the Earth's environment. Changes in the global environment, including ozone depletion, climate change and greenhouse warming, natural variations in the climate, and land use change have the potential for inducing signficant effects on human society and the Earth's natural ecosystems. The USGCRP sponsors global change research, uses this information to project future climate conditions, and improves understanding of possible consequences of global climate change. More detailed information about the USGCRP can be found at the USGCRP Home Page. |
